A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their legal filing states that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
